Lottery funds will support the launch of two new Bristol drop-ins and the continuation of an existing drop-in centre
Quids in! Monday Guidance expands Bristol-based drop-in centres as the newest recipient of the £203 million National Lottery Community Fund. The programme, National Lottery Awards for All England, awards funds to community-building projects across England aimed at creating “healthier, happier lives and a flourishing society.”
The funding will contribute to the launch of two new drop-ins at the Knowle West Healthy Living Centre and the Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust ‘The Hub.’ Funding has also been dedicated to running the existing Quids in! drop-in centre at the JTE Hub.
Quids in! drop-in centres can be found at community centres across the UK and are staffed by money coaches who know what it is like to juggle money issues. Residents can receive help with accessing food and energy vouchers, finding cheaper broadband options, job-hunting, benefit entitlements, and more.
Coaches may recommend a hybrid service where on top of in-person support, clients can access Quids in! Virtual Support Hub, an online coaching service from the comfort of their home.
Residents can access Quids in! drop-in services at three different locations: Shirehampton JTE Hub Mondays from 9:00am to 12:30pm, Knowle West Healthy Living Centre Wednesdays from 11:00am to 1:00pm, and Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust ‘The Hub’ Every Other Wednesday from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Darren, Project Coordinator at the JTE Hub, has observed the significant impact that the existing Quids in! drop-in has had on the community: “As a relatively new organisation, having Quids in! here has helped put us on the map. It has had a great impact on us so the effect on residents being able to access this is incredibly important and has a huge impact. The figures are very good but the real impact is the difference it makes to peoples lives in terms of financial and emotional. It has been a real pleasure hosting Quids in! and long may it continue.
Funding for the drop-ins will continue until June, 2025.
