Quids in! expands support for Bristol residents through Household Support Fund 7

Expanded support includes drop-in services, tailored money guidance, and a new tool to help residents manage costs and build resilience.

Quids in! Money Guidance, delivered by Clean Slate Training & Employment, has received further funding under the Household Support Fund (HSF7), a government programme designed to help low-income households with essential living costs. Running from Spring 2025 to March 2026, this latest phase will allow us to reach more Bristol residents struggling with the cost of living.

Supporting households when it matters most

The Household Support Fund aims to provide crisis support for essentials such as food, energy and bills, while also helping people build resilience to prevent future hardship. Through HSF7, Quids in! will continue to combine short-term help with longer-term financial confidence-building through three key offers.

Drop-in support across Bristol

Residents can access free, friendly support at three community venues:

  • Shirehampton JTE Hub: Mondays, 9:00am to 12:30pm
  • St Werburghs Community Centre: Thursdays, 12:00pm to 3:00pm
  • Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust ‘The Hub’: every other Wednesday, 11:00am to 1:00pm

At these drop-ins, residents can get help with food and energy vouchers, benefit entitlements, job-hunting, and reducing bills. Visitors can also be referred into the Quids in! five to six week remote money guidance programme, which provides one-to-one coaching either remotely or face to face. Capacity for this programme will increase over the winter months when demand is highest.

1:1 money guidance with a Quids in! Coach

For those who need more in-depth support, our Money Guidance Programme offers one-to-one sessions over several weeks. Coaches work with participants to create tailored action plans that address immediate needs and build longer-term financial stability. This approach helps residents not only manage current pressures but also develop the skills and confidence to maintain financial health in the future.

Introducing Quids in! CashPointers

The funding will also support the launch of CashPointers, a tablet-based self-assessment and action planning tool based on the Quids in! Money Health Check (MHC). The tool uses 25 yes-or-no questions to help participants think critically about their money habits. After completing the quiz, users receive a personalised action plan by email, guiding them to take small, practical steps toward improving their finances.

CashPointers will be available at community centres across Bristol, providing residents with an easy, accessible way to start taking control of their money. Community centre and frontline staff can also use the tool with clients as part of their ongoing support.

We’ll be officially launching CashPointers at Hillfields Park Community Centre on Wednesday 5 November (10:00am–12:00pm) as part of Talk Money Week. Join us to see the tool in action, take part in a mini money guidance workshop, and connect with others supporting financial wellbeing in Bristol. Get your free tickets here.
