This winter, Quids in! Money Guidance reopens its drop-in support in Hackney and Lambeth
Quids in! Money Guidance, delivered by Clean Slate Training & Employment, is pleased to announce that it will be extending its services for low-income residents in Hackney in January and Lambeth in February, offering a variety of in-person and remote support.
Hackney residents can now welcome Quids in! back to Haggerston thanks to funding from the L&Q Foundation and the Haggerston & Kingsland Residents’ Collective, through the East End Community Foundation. Residents can access the drop-in at the Marie Lloyd Centre every Wednesday from 9:30am to 1:00pm.
Lambeth residents can also expect to see a Quids in! Drop-in back up and running in February at the Oasis Hub Waterloo, with more details to follow.
Drop-ins are run by Quids in! Coaches who offer light-touch, personalised support with managing money, accessing online resources, and finding ways to increase income and reduce costs, drawing on their local knowledge and experience of the challenges faced by low-income households.
The funding will enable Quids in! to continue its work supporting residents and deepening the connections the service has within local communities.
Residents have shared the impact the service has had in the community. One Hackney resident said:
“My Quids in! Coach worked really hard to help us apply for Pension Credit. My husband and I were struggling to apply for a while as we didn’t know how and what to do. We are so glad that she is at the Marie Lloyd Centre every Wednesday to help us.”
Another client from Oasis said:
“It would have been much more difficult to deal with my situation without your support. You’ve done so much for me, so thank you.”
5-6 Week Money Guidance
Residents who are interested in more in-depth support can also join the 5-6 week Money Guidance Programme, which offers up to eight hours of one-to-one support. The programme begins with a Money Health Check (MHC): 25 simple questions that help to identify what support someone may be eligible for and create a personalised action plan.
Quids in! Coaches then work alongside residents to boost their financial wellbeing, including help with benefits checks, identifying ways to increase income, reducing costs through social tariffs, grants and discounts, and building practical tools such as a budget planner, spending diary and spending plan. Where needed, the programme can also offer referrals and signposting to additional support, including emergency help such as food banks, fuel banks and data banks.
In 2025, average financial gains for participants who completed this programme were £1,567.
