Crisis and Resilience Fund backs free Quids in! Money Guidance for Bristol residents

Funding will support free drop-ins and one-to-one Quids in! Money Guidance for Bristol residents facing money worries.

Quids in! Money Guidance, delivered by Clean Slate Training & Employment CIC, has received funding through the Bristol City Council’s Crisis and Resilience Fund 2026/27.

Running from Spring 2026 to March 2027, this new fund, which replaces the Household Support Fund will support Bristol residents with money worries, bills, benefits, budgeting and the ongoing cost of living.

The Crisis and Resilience Fund helps people when pressure is piling up, while also giving them tools to cope better in the future. It builds on our previous work through Household Support Fund 7, which brought drop-in support, one-to-one money guidance and Quids in! CashPointers to communities across Bristol.

With Crisis and Resilience Fund backing, Quids in! Money Guidance will keep helping residents get back on firmer ground. The aim is simple: help people feel more confident with money, become better off, more resilient and move away from crisis point.

Drop-in support across Bristol

Residents can access free, friendly support at three community venues:

Shirehampton JTE Hub
Mondays, 9:30am to 12:30pm
Penpole Avenue, Shirehampton, Bristol BS11 0DY

Easton Community Centre
Thursdays, 9:30am to 12:30pm
Kilburn Street, Bristol BS5 6AW

St Werburghs Community Centre
Thursdays, 1:30pm to 4:30pm
Horley Road, Bristol BS2 9TJ

At these drop-ins, residents can get one-off support, complete a Money Health Check where useful, and talk through what help might make the biggest difference. They can also be referred into five-to-six-week Quids in! Money Guidance for more tailored support.

5-6 Week Programme

For people who need more than a one off appointment, Quids in! Money Guidance offers one-to-one support over five to six weeks over the phone.

Quids in! Coaches work with residents to look at what is coming in, what is going out, and what practical steps could make life easier. Support can include benefits and grants checks, budgeting, income and spending reviews, utility schemes, signposting, and help to understand whether moving into work could leave someone better off.

People completing the full five-to-six-week support are expected to see average financial gains of around £1,500.

CashPointers

CashPointers help residents take the first step with money support, without needing to know where to start.

Available at community spaces  and for people to use outside drop-in hours, the tablet-based tool uses the Quids in! Money Health Check to ask simple yes-or-no questions about bills, benefits, borrowing, budgeting, saving work and everyday costs.

At the end, residents receive a personalised action plan by email, with practical steps that they can take next. They will also be signed up to the Quids in! Readers Club, a free monthly money email service with tips, news and guidance to help people on low-income with their financial wellbeing.

If residents would like to talk to a Quids in! Coach for further support, they can self refer into the 5-6 week programme at the end of the Money Health Check.

Referrals

Staff can refer clients or residents (with a Bristol City Council post-code) can self refer using the Bristol referral form: https://www.cleanslateltd.co.uk/refer-to-bristol.html
